Vixen’s Ventures Have Come To A Close

It’s been real, y’all.

I was the on-air rep for my group, and it was really great to see everyone’s reactions on twitter. Of course, there were some parts that I didn’t like of the show or that I thought could be done better, but nobody seemed to notice this. I guess that just means that I’m too harsh. The biggest issues that I noticed and that others pointed out was the background noise volume and the commercial pacing. I definitely agreed with listeners on this- it could have been done better.

Overall, I think that the greatest challenge in our group was editing. The initial edits took longer than expected, which set everything back a bit. Also, leaving all of the music and sound effects to Amy was probably too much work for one person.

I really liked being able to discuss the show on air, though, and I would highly encourage other ds106ers to do it. Also, don’t feel like you can’t have fun with it. If you’re studying drama, make a comedy. Do something fun and unique, find a way to care about what you’re doing. Definitely record your lines together so that you can use each other’s energy and act better. But above all, use a good mic.

  1. Yeah, I really appreciate you taking the time to talk to us online before and after your radio show. That was excellent, it was clear you could really articulate your take on noir, and how your were trying to deconstruct the genre with absurdity and comedy. Really added yet another dimension to an already rich show.
